In the early morning of August 28, 2010, a fire broke out in Mansfield Hotel. The fire started in the exhaust fans of the kitchen. One of the owners and a new employee, that were staying in the private accommodation upstairs from the kitchen, were lucky to escape with their lives. Nine fire trucks came to the scene to extinguish the fire which took almost an hour to control. Multiple emergency calls of concerned citizens were made as the growing fire became a threat to nearby buildings.

According to Mansfield Shire councilor, Dean Belle, the residents of Mansfield were devastated with what happened. The temporary closure at that peak winter tourist time was devastating for the owners of the Mansfield Pub. An estimated $1.5 million damage struck the hotel with the kitchen and bistro areas being hit the hardest. Though the historic exterior of the building remained in good shape, there was still smoke and structural damage throughout the hotel. The fortunate thing is that there were no injuries, everyone got out safely.
A year later, Mansfield Hotel has become bigger and better! The fire in Mansfield Pub is now a thing of the past. We are happy to serve our old and new customers once again.
